As mentioned before we will be updating our telephone system on Thursday 20th April 2017.

Our phone lines will be unavailable between 12:00pm – 2:00pm approximately.

Don’t worry, our contact number won’t be changing.

After the update, when you call the surgery you will have some options to choose from. This will help to direct your call in the best way.

We apologise for any inconvenience the downtime may cause & we thank you in advance for your patience whilst this work is carried out.

You may remember completing a patient satisfaction survey for us in August 2016. The results of which you can read here. We are always striving for improvement and took your feedback on board.

In the next few days we will be sending out a further survey and we ask if you would complete this once again for us.

We will use the results of this 2017 survey to compare feedback and monitor the effects of the changes that we have made as a direct result of our first survey

Our aim is to use this feedback taken from a wide range of patients to make improvements based on what our patients want, and to improve the overall service we offer at Levenside Medical Practice in the future.

Your GP surgery will be closed for the Easter holidays on Friday 14th & Monday 17th April.

If you are in need of medical attention during this time that cannot wait until we re-open, you can contact NHS 24 on 111.

If you are in need of immediate medical attention dial 999.


Remember to order your medication to cover this period & where possible allow 2 working days for us to process the request for you.

Your local pharmacies will maintain their normal opening times on Friday 14th, Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th, however if you find yourself short of your medication on Monday 17th your local pharmacy openings are:

You may have seen or heard in the news recently about SPIRE. Let us tell you a little about it. For information in full, please visit the SPIRE website.


Your role in SPIRE and how you can help

SPIRE has been developed to help doctors, the National Health Service (NHS) in Scotland and researchers to learn more from patient information held at GP practices. They will use it to help all NHS patients in Scotland. So information from your medical records – and those of millions of other people in Scotland – will help medical professionals to improve the quality of care for all patients, plan services, develop new treatments, find out about side-effects and respond to major epidemics.

SPIRE moves information electronically and securely, from GP practice records to NHS National Services (NSS). They will then use SPIRE and other IT systems to give better information to the NHS in Scotland, and to approved researchers.

How SPIRE protects your privacy

  • if researchers need to identify you, they will ask your permission
  • the Scottish Government will not be able to see your personal information
  • personal information will not be sold to make money
  • it uses only selected and coded parts of the health record, not the whole record
  • staff and researchers are carefully trained and are only allowed to use the least information they need for each project. Only a small number of authorised staff can  find out who the information is about
  • researchers from outside NHSScotland must be independently approved

If doctors at your GP practice have agreed to let SPIRE use patient information, it means they believe it will help all patients in Scotland, and that they have tight security checks in place to keep your information safe.

As you may be aware, we are having some problems with ‘Patient Access’. This is the website we use to connect with our clinical system which allows you to book appointments and order prescriptions online.

Currently our IT department is looking into what is causing the issue. Unfortunately it is taking longer to fix than we would like.

We do apologise for this inconvenience. We know many of you use this convenient service.

We will update our news section with any updates as we get them.
